The Morning Routine that Saved My Sanity and Improved my Motherhood
How the Gratia Plena Prayer Journal Came to Be
I get it mamas, MOM LIFE is HARD
If you’re in the “trenches” of it, it may seem like establishing a consistent prayer plan is the last thing you’re capable of doing. How can you have a steady prayer life when you can’t even remember to move the laundry over in a timely manner?
Well, because you just make it happen. Prayer is the most important part of our day (of our LIFE!) and I can guarantee you, if you Seek First the Kingdom of God, He will take care of the rest

The cover art for the Gratia Plena prayer journal is the beautiful and original work of The Little Rose Shop - a wonderful, Catholic mama owned company.
My toddler was 2, my baby was 8 months, we had just gotten a puppy and my husband was working nights and sleeping days. I found myself in a mental state I had never known and as much as I disliked feeling that way, I didn’t know how to fix it. I couldn’t seem to escape the hamster wheel of a thousand things to do and a thousand needs to be met between the kids and the dog and a difficult work schedule for my husband, forget my own needs, the list goes on.
The truth is, I was searching in all the wrong places for the ANSWER as to how to get through the chaos and overwhelm of Mom life. The ANSWER is that, there isn’t necessarily a “perfect fix” or a magical “mom hack”. The TRUTH is, life is difficult and motherhood is no exception. The ANSWER I was looking for, was a mindset shift. The ANSWER I was looking for, was Him. In a season when I needed Him most, I was neglecting my prayer life with the poor excuse that I was just “too busy”.
So I did the research, I looked up what types of morning routines were effective for improving your mental state and overall quality of life. To be honest, I wasn’t thrilled with what I found - hardly anything involved Jesus at all, let alone the Catholic Faith. So I created my own - including some of the principles I had researched but mostly including the Truths of the Faith. It worked - my days flipped around and I felt God’s Grace pouring into our lives on the days when I made a point of doing the morning routine. I am forever grateful for that pivotal time in my motherhood.
There were multiple other versions of a “prayer journal” that led up to this final result that has been so popular amongst Catholic mothers. It is the exact solution I created for myself in a time of need and now, I want other mamas to experience the same!
